\n\n2020 Tax Certificate Sale
\n\n
\n\n1. The Tax Certificate Sale of unpaid\n2019 real property taxes will take place on May 30 and 31, 2020. The\nsale will be conducted on the County’s tax certificate auction web\nsite, BidBrevard.com. Bidders can review the advertised list of unpaid\nreal property taxes and submit bids on the web site starting on May 7,\n2020.
\n\n 
\n\n2. In order to submit bids, you must complete the following steps on\nBidBrevard.com:
\n\n
    \n\n
  1. Complete online registration
  2. \n
  3. Complete an IRS Form W-9
  4. \n
  5. Establish a Budget
  6. \n
  7. Submit a deposit representing 10% of intended purchases
  8. \n
  9. Receive bidder number assignment
  10. \n
\n\nA social security number or taxpayer\nidentification number must be provided for each buyer and must belong\nto the person listed on the W-9 form.  Redemption payments\nand 1099 interest earnings will be issued exactly as indicated on your\nW-9 form.
\n\n 
\n\n3. Bidding starts at 18% and interest is bid down in 1/4 percent\nincrements. A\"zero\" interest bid will\nget the bidder the certificate with NO interest. When your bid\nis recognized as the low bid on the Results Page, you are obligated to\npay for the certificate even if the bid was unintentional. The bidding method is by DIRECT bidding.
\n\n 
\n\n4. The properties will be auctioned in the order listed in the\nnewspaper. Some items listed in the\nnewspaper and on the web site will not be auctioned due to payments\nbeing received after the list was prepared for publication.
\n\n 
\n\n5. After the sale bidders are given an invoice for the balance due. Bidders must make payment for purchases no\nlater than June 2, 2020 3:00 pm EDT. A bidder failing to make\npayment in the specified time will forfeit all deposits and certificate\npurchases and may be barred from future sales.
\n\n 
\n\n6. The Tax Collector reserves the\nright to cancel or correct certificates issued in error.\nInterest payments may be affected by bankruptcies, U.S. Marshal\nseizures, property taken over by a receiver, etc.
\n\n 
\n\n7. Caution: The Tax Certificate Sale\nis NOT a sale of real property, nor does a tax certificate give the\ncertificate holder a direct means to acquire a property.\nAccording to Florida Statute the holder of a tax certificate may not\ndirectly, through an agent or otherwise initiate contact with the owner\nof property upon which they hold the certificate to encourage or demand\npayment for two years.
